The Board of Directors of SaskOrganics is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Beckett as Executive Director.
“The Board is very excited to welcome Michelle to our organization.” said Garry Johnson, President. “We believe Michelle’s wealth of business and management experience and her organic family farm background will be an asset to SaskOrganics.”
Michelle grew up in a farming community in east central Saskatchewan to parents who believed in doing something different. Long before organic certification was well known, her parents made the decision to transition all their farmland to organic status. She has been learning the ins and outs of organic production since then.
Michelle attended the University of Saskatchewan and earned a BA in Political Studies. In the years following, she moved to Calgary and began a career in digital media and marketing.
In 2017, she moved back to Saskatoon and a year later co-founded a tech and digital media company. Founding and running a company provided an opportunity to learn a lot about managing a business through all its ups and downs. After five and half years, she decided to embark on a new challenge.
Michelle has stayed closely connected to organic production as the family farm grew and changed. She is eager to learn more about the policies and challenges of organic production in Saskatchewan, and to help organic producers be heard in our province.
“I’m very excited to embark on this new journey with SaskOrganics. My family has farmed organically in Saskatchewan for almost 30 years and I’m happy to play a role in a sustainable future for farm producers. There is much work to be done! I look forward to working with the board and the members, and building on what Marla Carlson and Deb Tuchelt have accomplished.” says Michelle Beckett.
We look forward to working with Michelle in this next phase of SaskOrganics’ growth.
